Chicago-based producer and DJ, Alex Kislov releases the second single and title track from his forthcoming album Dream Sequence, teaming up with Leo Wood on an emotionally-charged slice of melodic deep house.

Dream Sequence underwent a significant transformation from its initial rendition. Originally titled ‘Restraint’ and conceived without vocals in 2023, the song took an unexpected turn when Alex decided to incorporate Leo Wood into the mix. Despite pushing the project back a few months this bold choice ultimately resulted in the creation of Dream Sequence, reflecting Alex’s drive to take creative risks and refine his own work.

The result is a beautiful deep, melodic, affecting slice of house music with an emotionally-charged vocal from Wood and slick, subtle production from Kislov.

With the single out now, we asked Alex to put together a playlist of some of his all-time favorite records.

YDG – Diamond

This track has been living rent-free in my mind since Electric Forest this year. I first heard it when I was playing with John Summit at Evol Afters, then heard it again by Big G, and then again by Levity. Since then, it’s been stuck with me ever since. I recently played it in one of my sets at Taste of River North, and it was a banger! This isn’t my usual style of music, but when it’s good, it’s good!

London Elektricity – Just One Second (Apex Remix)

I’m a huge drum and bass fan, and this song is up there as one of my favorites. From the dreamy vocals to the clean liquid bass and percussion, this is my go-to song on Spotify when I need a boost or when I’m feeling a little fatigued from the regular 4×4 beats.

Marsh – Free (Marsh’s Extended Dream Mix)

I mean, this tune is a dream. I love the pads, synths, and bassline he used in this one. It’s often finding its way into a lot of my sets lately.

MATIRAMIC – Masai (Spencer Brown Rethink)

Gorgeous track with really pretty arps and swells. I really enjoy this track and often find myself playing it in my progressive/deep house sets.

David Zowie – House Every Weekend

An absolute legend of a track that almost anyone can immediately get into. This is the theme track for our EVOL Afters stage at Electric Forest, and for 7 years, I’ve started each of my morning sunrise sets with this song.

Kaskade – 4 AM (Adam K & Soha Mix)

Aside from being a classic tune, this is one of the tracks I listened to every day as a teenager/early college years when going out. It’s an ode to all Chicago dance fans and a tune that stays in your head for days after you’ve heard it.

MK – 17

This will always and forever be one of my favorite tracks ever made in dance music. The energy, the synth, the vocals! CHEF’S KISS*

Franky Rizardo – Cola (Franky Rizardo Remix)

A dance floor weapon for practically any scenario, this is one of those tunes that always turns up the temperature on the dance floor. The lyrics are familiar enough for the ladies to sing along, but it still doesn’t feel cheap or commercialized.

Jessie Ware – Overtime

I love the bassline and vibe on this track. I usually open my sets with this track to give the room a solid refresh and let everyone know that I’m here.

Sonique – It Feels So Good (12″ Breakbeat Mix)

A legendary track that will always have a special place in my heart. I grew up listening to this tune and know all the lyrics by heart.
