Morpei embodies what it means to hustle. Born in Bolivia, he had to work hard to make it as an artist. At 16 he was already a major influence in the underground scene in his country but made the decision to move the US when he turned 18 to dive fully into his music career. Since, Morpei has become a notable house music talent and has appeared on many different stages and labels alike. This is the second time we’ve seen Morpei on Desert Hearts Records, but “Desert Faith” serves as his first full EP on the label.

Morpei definitely puts his signature style to work on this tenacious two-tracker. An expert at fusing retro sounds with modern music, the EP opens with a track titled“Faith in Groove.” It’s infused with tribal drum elements and punchy bass lines, and the jazzy old-school electric keyboard gives it that groovy Morpei edge. The second song on the EP, “Desert Worship,” is a soulful track punctuated with acid lines and funky synths that force body movement.

“Desert Faith” is such a fun addition to the Desert Hearts label and seems to solidify Morpei’s title as the funk-house king. We can’t wait to see what this young artist does next!
