There’s a particular kind of summer that only French house knows how to capture — filtered, sun-warped, slightly nostalgic for a moment that’s still happening. Monkey Safari‘s third single »Future« lives entirely in that feeling.
»Future« leans straight into oldschool French house — disco chords run through a low-pass filter, a bassline that bounces instead of pounds, the kind of looped groove that made the genre what it was in the early 2000s. It’s a sound built on repetition and small variation, and Monkey Safari understand exactly how much patience that style rewards.
Nothing here is trying to be new. That’s the point. »Future« is a track that knows its references and wears them proudly — without ever turning into pastiche.
This is a sunset-terrace record before it’s a club record. The filtered loops give it warmth, the groove gives it momentum, and the whole thing moves at the pace of a long evening that doesn’t want to end. It sits comfortably next to the early Daft Punk and Stardust records that defined the sound — not as imitation, but as a track that grew up listening to the same radio.
