We sit down with Ecuadorian DJ and producer Barucc to celebrate his recent release on Savia Park ‘Here We Go Again’ featuring RIZZER. We discuss the inspiration behind the release, how we came to land on the label, his studio set up and more…

Hi Barucc! Great to have you here. How has your year been so far?

All good, thanks for asking! It’s been full of new releases and making new tracks.

Tell us about your new release? What inspired it?

This release I’ve been working for a while. It exposes what I like about dance music.

I always see what different genres do to the dancefloor. The reaction of people and the way they dance to my music is what inspires me to do more music.

Tell us about the scene in Ecuador? Has it changed much over the years?

I like the scene here, it’s recently grown a lot . Many International artists come. I had the pleasure of  playing alongside Mihai Popoviciu, Carlo Lio, Bassel Darwish and more in the last year It is also very diverse in genres, there is a scene for each of them from house to techno, which it makes it very rich for a small country like ours.

How did you come to land on Savia Park?

I always loved Savia Park. I’ve been a fan of the label for a while and its releases. I like how they support local talents to expose them to the world.

I sent a few demos to Slurm, and he liked them a lot, so here we are!

How did you come to link up with RIZZER? Are you good friends, or an artist you look up to, or both?

I’m friends with Rizzer. We met in a party and since then we have been in touch. We have a lot in common with our sound. His remix  for ‘Here We Go Again’ fits great, it’s nice work from him.

What’s your studio set up like? Are you a gear head?

I use FL Studio as my DAW, M-Audio audio interface and the rest is all in the box.

What would you say the special formula is for your sound?

Lots of synths in the breakdown, skippy drums and energetic drops with vocal chops.

What has been your favourite venue to play?

Lost Beach Club. It’s very professional and beautiful club. I had an amazing experience there, the crowd is fantastic as well.

What tracks never leave your bag?

I’m always searching for new music, I tried not to repeat the tracks too much but I can say “Ralph Castelli – Morning sex (Thomas Garcia edit)”.

If you could play back to back with any artist who would it be?

Seth Troxler, he’s a living legend.

What has the rest of 2023 got in store for you? What can we look forward to from Barucc?

Keep producing more music and sharing it with the world.
