Emerging as a brand doing things differently, London party starters Appetite have blossomed as one of the leading event series within the UK house realm. Created by co-founders Elliot Schooling and Liam Palmer at university, the two hotly-tipped selectors have been building their collaborative and solo profiles over the past few years with appearances for the likes of Solid Grooves, No Art and Half Baked while playing venues such as DC10, After Caposile, KOKO and Shelter. Having shaken up the UK clubbing scene, the next step sees the brand evolve once more with the launch of its new in-house label Appetite Records.
“Starting a label was always on the agenda. It’s been a work in progress for years, but we decided to do it now because of the amount of music coming out of the studio. To be honest, it just felt right, sometimes things just align, and it happens. The track was born after a very late hazy night in the studio. We were just messing about having fun, trying out different vocals, and then we found something that worked. The turnaround on the track was super quick & we knew we made a banger. Being influenced by Lil Louis, Paul Johnson and that type of rough old-school house, I think that this was a homage to that era of music. We all need a naughty track in our lives, and I think that this caters for that.” – Elliot Schooling & Liam Palmer.
An outlet for the co-founders to express and showcase what they’ve been up to in the studio while founding a home for their close family of residents and friends, the imprint will focus on high-quality house music from across the spectrum – kicking things off with the bubbly ‘Hey Johnny’ featuring singer/songwriter Halana Roma.
