Pushing and breaking boundaries with her affecting electronic music, NY-Based producer, songwriter and vocalist TANVI returns with her new EP “01100001”. A project rich in production flair and a plethora of influences, showcasing her distinctive fusion of trip hop, garage, jungle and electronica.
Born in India, raised in California, and now based in NYC, TANVI’s ethereal yet genre-defying sound is a testament to her diverse cultural upbringing and innovative musical vision. Drawing inspiration from the daydream, her music is characterized by layered soundscapes and hazy vocals, creating an immersive sonic experience.
With a background in computer science, TANVI seamlessly blends elements of dance music, trip-hop, and Bollywood, resulting in a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Her upcoming EP promises to push musical boundaries even further, with each track offering a unique journey into experimental pop territory.
“Say You Want Me,” the EP’s lead single, sets the tone with dreamy atmospheres and soft vocals reminiscent of acclaimed experimental pop artists like Smerz and Tirzah. The second track “Gauzz”, takes on an ethereal UK garage style, with plenty of glitch-core and vocal chops giving the production depth. On the final track “Mine”, we see the talented producer take on a 160bpm, jungle-influenced approach with a daring tempo switch half-way through the piece.
As a newcomer to the scene, TANVI has already garnered acclaim for her debut releases and electrifying live performances, solidifying her status as an exciting talent in the electronic music landscape.
Speaking on the EP, TANVI explains: “I’ve spent so much of my life lonely and lost in my own thoughts. I used to get in trouble in class for daydreaming too much. These songs are really a journey into my mind and are soundscapes to get lost in and daydream to. The title ‘01100001’ means ‘u & i’ in binary and I feel like it’s very fitting for the fragments of love and life I’ve embedded in these daydreams.”
