Groovefest is “The Party in Paradise” happening right now in the Dominican Republic. Many of us can’t make it out this year, so we’ve come up with a way to send you right into the sunshine and at least help you mentally take a journey into the tropics. Our buddy Jozif, one of the performers this year (among so many greats), has compiled a list of his top 5 topical tunes for your listening pleasure.
Tropical Top 5
1. Woolfy vs Projections – Neeve (Permanent Vacation Tropical Heat Mix)
When I think of yummy tropical, drifty, sunshine music, this just sums it up for me.
2. Kuba Sojka – Here comes the Sunshine
I love the fact that Kuba writes a whole bunch of different sounding material. This one gets played by me every time I’m on a beach or somewhere warm and sunny.
3. Death on the Balcony – Fading Fast
Everything these boys write I love! Not exactly sure why this makes me feel all tropical..? maybe it’s that lovely guitar or those delicious chords… whatever it is, I’m hooked.
4. John Digweed & Nick Muir vs jozif – Groove Del Verano
I know its a bit silly choosing one of my own, but when I wrote this, I was just thinking about the sunshine and it kinda makes me feel all tropical – now i listen to it again after all this time…
5. Egyptian Nipples – LA Melody (Session Victim Remix)
I have been playing this for ages now but just cant get enough of it. It’s the perfect blend of shuffley, ethnic percussion and twangy, gentle guitars alongside a killer bassline … ticks all the boxes.
