This latest 6-tracker from Transistorcake is his second entry onto Ghentian label Eskimo Recordings growing portfolio of charming, aesthetically driven releases. The artists idea of recreating the glamour of a modern cocktail party sonically results in an astounding sensory payoff, bringing Transistorcake’s vision to life in a uniquely vibrant way.
The opener, Cocktail Op.1, lays down hazy, muzak-esque vibes comprising a jazzy lo-fi chord progression, funk-filled new wave bassline and a gauzy vocal sample serving as a luxurious intro to the EP. Grenadine follows up with a syncopated, stuttering beat that subverts expectations of direction with a distinctive unpredictability, while a thick, tubular bass sound forms the skeleton of the track, accompanying Transistorcake’s low-hanging beat perfectly. The halfway mark of the EP is drawn by Melted, a lazy, brooding groove characterised by its hypnotic detuned analog leads, breathy celestial pads and a subtle blend of background melodies and samples.
Cocktail EP will be released on July 10th 2020 via Eskimo Recordings.
