Returning to We Love US is Punkphunk with ‘The Pyramid Scheme EP’.

Influenced by Steve Lawler, Halo Varga and DJ Dan, Punkphunk’s sound is organic, soulful and deeply satisfying. His last outing on We Love US, a remix for Scott Hatfield, picked up all manner of support from tastemakers, radio jocks and more.

First up is ‘Movement’ a typically jacking groove with plenty of dubby wonk. As the machine funk grows in tension huge 808 kicks annihilate the room. Late night vibes par excellence. Equally, ‘White Lines’ that accompanies it opens fairly innocently. Soon we’re into the guttural tribalism of his influencers with a few cheeky samples, and then the bass hits!
