Gianni Romano, an Italian DJ and producer, is globally recognized for founding Daddy’s Groove and his solo project MHE. He has a profound understanding of the club scene and embarked on a solo journey in 2015, launching Party Switch and the Switch Lab record label, which has become one of the top Afro House labels. Romano’s ambition is to explore and transcend musical boundaries.

His tracks, including “The Thrill Is Gone” and “The Sounds Of Silence,” have topped charts across Europe and received support from iconic DJs worldwide. In 2018, his single “LaManguelena” marked a significant milestone, followed by “It’s not right” in 2021, gaining attention from top artists like Diplo and Black Coffee.

With 2024 shaping up nicely for Gianni, we asked him to put together a playlist of some of his current favorite tracks, with a few classics and inspirations thrown in for good measure.

Moderat – More Love (Rampa &ME Remix)

Fell in love with this masterpiece the first time I heard it. It takes me somewhere I want to be. Will be in my collection for a long time. Is it too early to call it a classic?

Gianni Romano Feat Jamila – All Around Me

It’s my own single with an amazing singer from South Africa called Jamila, this track reminds me of a dreamier place. This record touches my soul.

Gianni Romano & Emanuele Esposito Feat Helen Tesfazghi – It’s Not Right

This track continues to surprise me, many DJs play it in their sets and to see people smile and sing along when I play it makes me happy.

Aüra – Kokoya (Original Mix)

Aüra is a rising star, this track is always in my DJ set.

Zusimay – Axel Beca

Played this one all summer. The live feeling elements make it stand
out and it always gets a great reaction from the crowd.

Inner City – Good Life (Buena Vida) (Carl Craig Mix)

This record will make every single list I am ever asked for. Every time I hear that iconic riff, I am reminded of why I fell in love with dance music in the first place.

Celeda – Music Is The Answer

Music is most definitely the answer. I believe in it! This is an absolute banger! I feel so lucky to have been there in the 90’s even though we didn’t know how good it was!

Ultra Nate – Free

She is another artist that I’ve had the great fortune to meet and work with in my life. This is my favourite classic right here! I love the positive message of this song – you’re free to live how you want to live and you’re free to do what you want to do.

Cerrone – Supernature

Through music I have met some great artists and pioneers of the sounds that I love including Cerrone. His music is an inspiration and I am thankful I had the opportunity to remix one of his greatest hits. This song is still huge.

Technotronic- Pump Up The Jam

No list is complete without what must be one of the first vinyls I bought . The groove, bassline and that vocal are the perfect combination. Even today when I feel nostalgic i’ll put it in some of one sets.
