Dominique Vijverberg, better known as Deeparture, is a Melodic Techno DJ/producer from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, who is steadily building a reputation for exquisitely crafted and well programmed melodic house.

His musical style can be described as uplifting, extravert, melodic and climax driven. A true blend of the emotional and rhythmic content of progressive house, combined with high energy buildups and basslines found in techier styles.

With his latest single Appreciation having recently landed, here Deeparture has put together a selection of 10 ‘Inspiring’ melodic house cuts: some brand new, while some have been around for years.

Leaving Laurel – Fireflies (for as far as we could see)

When you think about epic film music combined with melodic house, Leaving Laurel is one of the first acts that comes to mind. This track is the latest single of their most recent album. You can just feel a combination of sadness, hope, memories past when listening to this one. A piece of art, started together, but finished alone.

Reflekt – Need To Feel Loved (Tinlicker remix)

These string chords somehow still induce goosebumps 20 years after the release of the original. No surprise since these chords originate from famous composer Thomas Newman’s Ghosts. Tinlicker made a perfect remix for today’s clubs & festivals.

Rezident – Hunter

Great original chords and a very haunting vocal. Nothing more to add.

Sebastien Leger – Ariana

Another 8 minutes of filmic from the master of evolving melodies. Sebastien Leger always knows how to set a very specific mood with his melodies that I don’t hear with any other producer and is just so recognizable.

Anden – Embrace

Like the theme of a very epic Science Fiction movie. The guys from Anden make such balanced, well considered melodic techno and their latest Embrace is no exception.

Christian Loffler – Lid (Yotto Remix)

Simple, to the point, amazing breakdown and strong melody. Making small elements feel really big and signific. Tracks that years after release still feel fresh and still please the crowds every time you play them. Yotto has many of these to be honest, but this is one of his relatively lesser known remixes.

Kevin De Vries – Pegasus

Very impressed with this new melodic release from Kevin The Vries. The way the melody keeps subtle evolving to something bigger is something I haven’t heard very often. Keeping Melodic Techno fresh.

Stephan Jolk – Keep Going

Organic, rhythmic and hypnotizing. Great to see this different side of Stephan Jolk’s productions.

Sultan + Sheperd – Zima with Delhia De France

Like the end of a very good and touching movie. Brings tears to the eyes. One of my highlights from Sultan + Sheperd’s new album. Very talented musical producers.

Khåen – By Heart

This whole EP is amazing from Khåen but I find myself coming back to this particular track the most. Great sound design and chord melody.
