D-Floor Music is a record label dedicated to House music that’s been set up by Italian artists Leon and NiCe7, boasting previous releases featuring tracks and remixes by Riva Starr, Detlef, Claude VonStroke, Luna City Express, Pirupa and Patrick Topping.

The labels latest EP is from UK based Matt Tolfrey who alongside releases on his own Leftroom label, has also built up an impressive back catalogue on imprints such as Crosstown Rebels, Rekids, No.19 Music, Cocoon, and more recently Elrow and Kaluki.

A true stalwart of the UK club scene, Matt Tolfrey has also been well received in Ibiza and flown all over the globe to play many of the world’s top clubs and events while holding residencies at Bar Americas in Guadalajara and Stealth in his hometown of Nottingham. Known for his enigmatic DJ style he has also compiled mix CD’s for iconic brands such as Fabric and Classic.

Having been involved in music since 2002, this release showcases why Matt Tolfrey is held in such high regard both by critics and party goers all over the world.

Track one “Don’t Ask, Don’t Get” has a subtle electro influence with its broken rhythms and upfront sound design. Chic and stylish, the track fuses contemporary ideas with timeless production to create something distinct and special.

“Make Me Wait” is second on the EP with a bubbling bassline that has a raw funk and rubbery aesthetics. Pulsating with a rippling vocal, there is something captivating about the dark yet uplifting groove of this quirky track. Unmistakably individual with an understated sound, this is House music as it should be.

Last up is “Real World” that has a bumping groove rich with moody atmosphere. Murky textures build into a prominent female vocal sample that sits amongst the shuffling rhythms of the intricate percussion. Infectious and quirky, this is proper Tech House with both credibility and intelligence.
