New York City native J Gabriel has very recently made a return to Eyedyllic Music with the sensational jazz-laden Levity. The impressive release also features two heavy-weight remixes from Perlon favourite Akufen. To mark the release, we caught up with J Gabriel to find out what his top 5 tracks of the moment are. Read, listen and enjoy!
1. Chrivu – Linear Spaces (Vlad Arapasu Remix)
Such a fun dance floor roller, Vlad Arapasu brings the business! Real cool heavy vocoding and various sound FX jumping in and out. This type of stuff really gets me going when out at a party…
2. John Tejada & Arian Leviste – Ljiraq
Somehow seems to be a super low key release from a few years back… This cut is everything I love about John Tejada. Fantastic production, driving psychedelic realness!
3. J Gabriel – Levity
This one has been in the pipeline a while, so had been focused on the Akufen remixes recently… It’s nice to revisit with fresh ears and relive some of these ideas. Glad the EP will be released soon, thanks Eyedyllic for putting us on!
4. Mike Schommer – City Sleeps (Dub)
Everything about this song just exudes chill, sexy, intelligent vibes to me. All while maintaining a very accessible and broadly appealing sound. Quite a unique cut, let me know if you’ve got more stuff like this! Haha. Big thanks to Steve O’Sullivan for turning me onto this one while it’s still hot off the press.
5. DāM-FunK – Paradise
A beautiful cut here with brilliant melodies over 4 perfect chords – for 18 minutes…! Downtempo instrumental soul beats at their best. Was going through a bunch of old Dam Funk stuff recently and this definitely stood out.
