Hey Lion. How are you, whats good and bad in your world so far in 2022?

Hey Guys, I am doing good. I hope you are as well. Thanks for the interview. 2022 feels slightly surrealistic to be honest. There is a lot happening since the creation of our young label People of Poison. The last 12 months are blurring in on itself. A very challenging yet fulfilling period. Despite all the blood, sweat and tears, it all feels positive. Thank you Munich and more precisely our community – you guys make this whole thing work!

Tell us about your journey into dance music, and techno music in particular?

My journey actually started early for me. I bought my first piece of vinyl at the age of twelve – “Dancing in the dark” by “4Tune 500”. I started mixing at sixteen, a year later I played my first club shows. Unbelievable when I think about how fast time goes by and how much my passion for music never stopped along the way. It’s a kind of therapy for me. Constantly sharpening my skills and evolving through music. Working out new channels of communication.

Your recent release “Against Them” is out now on your new label People Of Poison, why did now feel like the right time to launch the label?

I think there is no such “right time” justified for founding a label. It’s a feeling that you get when things arrange just right for yourself and your vision. Then just hold on through and get it done.

What inspired this new tune? Where was it written for, what setting did you have in mind?

The idea and genesis of “Against Them” is a tribute to my past and present self. The track itself emerged from difficult times of my life in 2020/21. Lacking in perspective. Lots of losses back then. Kind of processing people and energies in my life, which have had a very negative impact on me. Message is clear. AGAINST THEM. Against everything that slows you down, drains your energy, your way and your art.

What gear did you use when producing the track?

Ableton Live.

How much has the last year of the pandemic affected the music you have made, the style and sound of it?

Deep question. I actually got a story for this which is probably worth telling. In fact, my roots as a producer reach from a different angle of the industry. Before the times of corona “shitdown” I had 20 finished productions in the bag. Flew around the world and had to go through some disappointing experiences. That completely changed my perspective. The style that I pursue now, as well as the therefore unfolding part of the industry fulfills me to the core. In addition to that re-establishing sound of the 90s held high potential due to the restrictions at that time. It almost felt like traveling back, when the form of music was considered something bad and somehow illegal. A magical time and change.

Where does the impulse to create something come from for you? What role do sources of inspiration like dreams, other forms of art, personal relationships, politics etc play?

My biggest drive is definitely the loss that my path brought with it. As mentioned above, I process energies through communication of music. As if I begin closing chapters that are meant to be shut. Each conclusion a new challenge opens up. For me, that is the purest form of harmony. Bringing in my experience and emotion then redefine.

What are the most important factors for the ideal party?

People do the party. Accordingly, it does not matter whether you dance in the middle of 50 or 2000 folks. Positivity set, right energies to bring to the spot and mix those vibes in the rave blender. Feed the elementary vibes to achieve the maximum. That’s what it’s about – having a good party. Starting within. Of course, the sound /should blast differently – not to be neglected. 😉

Who are 3 up and coming producers who you have your eye on at the moment?

Lacchessi. David Löhlein. Part Time Killer.

Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?

Difficult question, there are a lot of new energies strolling around lately. Creative artists bringing fresh synergies to the booth. Time just doesn’t feel right for any collaborations this year. Focused on my own imprint first. By the end of the year? – different view on that one maybe 😉

What else have you got coming up?

Literally. A. Lot. We’ve already packed the oncoming 12 months with releases, event-features and nationwide collaborations. Better follow us on Instagram – people.of.poison. We’re bangin’ out the box. Thanks so much for your time. Appreciate it.
