ANUQRAM, great to have the chance to speak with you both today. For those who have yet

to head your sound, how would you best describe it?

Hello, we are happy to answer your questions. The style of our music is melodic, deep and atmospheric.

We divide our music into several formats: progressive dance suitable for parties and festivals, organic

house suitable for meditation and comfortable listening at home, as well as underground Future Garage

and Breaks for melancholy lovers.

Can you tell us about your journeys as DJ’s? How did you get started and what motivated

you to pursue a career in music? How long had you been making music as individuals before

creating the duo?

Yes, initially we wrote music separately, each with his own nickname (Max Meyer and Wilderness). We

both started learning the sequencer and the basics of sound engineering while still at school, playing at

local parties in parallel. The biggest performance for one of our participants was in 2018 at the A State

Of Trance festival in Utrecht. We have been writing music for about 10 years, we are motivated to

continue doing this by a sincere love for music and creativity, as well as the opportunity to express our

feelings in music.

System Change is your latest EP to drop, what can you tell us about the creative process

behind the release?

For us, this is the first big EP, we used a lot of live instruments, and also worked out the percussion

lines on the drum machine in detail, Arabic classical music and the culture of different eastern countries

became a great inspiration. When we wrote this EP, we immediately focused on the fact that in the

future we would perform with a full live orchestral performance.

What makes it Where The Shadow Ends such a great fit for this record?

We really like the discography of this label, as well as their signature cover for releases. This is a young

label that shows very good results and prospects for something much bigger. We really like their

approach to releases, focusing on quality over quantity. Therefore, when choosing a label for this EP, we

agreed that it should be Where The Shadow Ends.

How does your production knowledge influence your DJ sets? Do you incorporate your own

original tracks or remixes into your performances?

We came to DJ sets just after we had a lot of experience in producing, which certainly helps when

choosing tracks for a performance, understanding what kind of compositions to choose throughout the

whole set. We use 60-70 percent of our original tracks and remixes in our sets, the rest is material from

our colleagues, which we really liked.

How does it work in the studio working collaboratively, do you each take on different roles?

We live in different cities, far from each other, each has its own separate studio for work. This does not

affect the workflow in any way thanks to the Internet. We have long been accustomed to this format of

work, so we just exchange projects during the production of a particular track.

What more can we expect to hear from you over the course of the year?

In July we will be back on Anjunabeats with a new single. Next will be the continuation of the System

Change EP, but only this time there will be remixes from talented producers and we are also looking

forward to it, since all the remixes are very, very good.

What advice would you give to aspiring DJs and producers who are looking to make their

mark in the industry?

Unfortunately, now we see a lot of depressive moods among young musicians, this is due to personal

over-expectations from their tracks and insufficient feedback from listeners. Therefore, our main advice

to young producers is not to write yourself down as outsiders, we all have always faced this and are

facing it to this day. Just write music the way you like it, don’t follow the trends, enjoy the process itself

and the final result.

Finally, how do you envision the future of electronic music, and what role do you see

yourself playing in it?

This is a very good question. Now there are new technologies associated with artificial intelligence,

and we really have a fear that this will affect the music industry in a negative way. But we are still

optimistic about the future and will give preference to live instruments. Our plans and processes for

today include a complete rejection of DJ sets and the transition to live performances using various

synthesizers and instruments.
