Located in Berlin and Moscow, Jackarta consists of two long-time friends, Evgeny (Jack) and Artyom (Art). Their passion for electronic music was ignited by previous melodic electronic acts, which inspired them to begin experimenting across deep and progressive styles. With a passion for travel, life moments and emotions we all face in our lives, the duo encapsulate these elements into the core of their productions, creating timeless compositions, which will stand the test of time. With releases on revered labels such as Songspire, Colorize and now Purified Records, this dynamic duo has positioned themselves as ones to watch.

Hi Jackarta, welcome to Music Is 4 Lovers. For those who are not familiar with your music, could you tell us a little bit about yourselves & the project?

Hello! We are a duo of long-time friends, Evgeniy (Jack) and Artyom (Art). We actually started producing progressive music together over 10 years ago as Stargliders. In 2017 we decided to take a break, and after nearly a year, we decided to start it from scratch with the new ideas and newly-found inspiration. So here we are!

You are gearing up to release ‘Into The Wild’ on Purified Records with
Diana Miro. How did this collab come about?

Diana is a great vocalist and we wanted to work with her for a while before – so KUDOS to our management for bringing us together 🙂 We actually worked on a different track for a while, but then got caught with a new idea and “Into The Wild” was born.

How has it been working with Purified Records?

Being long time fans of Nora En Pure, it is great to have our track out on Purified!

Have you had the chance to play ‘Into The Wild’ out to a crowd?

Not yet – as you all know, with the COVID situation it became more complicated. But can’t wait to get behind the decks and play it!

You guys live in different locations, Berlin & Moscow. Do you ever
find it difficult working together without being in the same country?
How often do you get together in the studio?

Well, we were producing together in Moscow for a couple of years, so we can easily understand each other now. Even though we are in different countries, with modern technology and collaborative tools we can easily connect. So now one of us can start the track, another could finish, and we would understand what the other person wanted to create (well, sometimes after the alignment :)).

If you could collaborate with any other musician, who would it be and why?

It can be a very long list… 🙂 But now we are definitely digging what Sultan + Shepard are doing. Great album on This Never Happened. Big fans.

Do you have any live shows coming up?

Not yet, but we LOVE to perform and open for offers!

If you could put on a show anywhere in the world, where would it be,
and who would be on the lineup?

Bali during the sunset. Absolutely stunning views. A place we both truly love and are inspired by. We can do an open-to-close set there by ourselves 🙂 But honestly, there are so many great artists there, but I would say Luttrell and Yotto.

What is your go-to peak time track for your sets?

From the recent tunes: Koelle & Into The Ether – Blossum

And perfect closing track?

Again, from the recent tunes: Sound Quelle – Ah Up

Jackarta – Into The World is out now via Purified Records
