Swiss / British producer and selector Pierre Locher streps up for our interview series. A regular in Berlin, Dubai and more, we find out more about the man behind the music…
Welcome Pierre. How are you today and how was the start of your year been?
Hello, thank you for having me. I’m doing well today, thank you. The start of my year has been quite exciting and promising. I’ve been fortunate to experience some significant highlights already, including performances in Berlin at Ritter Butzke and in Dubai at Gate Two. I’ve been picking up good momentum and am really happy with how things are going.

What goals have you set for this year? What is driving your 2024?
For this year, I’ve set several goals to drive my 2024. Primarily, I aim to continue releasing music and publishing more mixes for my fans to enjoy. Additionally, I aim to prioritise traveling, connecting with new artists, exploring different venues, and ultimately expanding my brand and reputation within the electronic music community.

We’re told you are Swiss and British! Where do you currently reside and which do you prefer?
Currently, I’m based in Dubai, and while both Swiss and British cultures hold significance for me, I don’t necessarily have a preference as I appreciate the unique aspects of each.

What artists do you look up to, both in the past and currently?
In terms of artists I look up to, both in the past and present, Phil Collins has always been a significant influence on me. His versatility as a singer, composer, and drummer resonates deeply with me. Additionally, Solomun’s captivating persona and vibe have inspired me in my own musical journey.

What were your childhood musical influences that shaped your career?
My early years were heavily influenced by music, starting with drumming lessons and later transitioning to piano. These experiences laid a strong foundation for my musical journey. Additionally, delving into DAWs like GarageBand and later Logic Pro further fuelled my passion for electronic music production.

Where would you say you find most of your inspiration when making a track?
My primary wellspring of inspiration stems from the visual storytelling of films, particularly classic thrillers and horror movies. The cinematography and mood of these films deeply influence my creative process.
What has been your favourite gig so far in your career?
While I’ve had numerous memorable gigs throughout my career, one that particularly stands out is my performance at Blackhole in Rome in February 2023. The electric energy and profound connection with the audience made it an unforgettable experience, especially considering it coincided with a challenging period in my life. Additionally, the beauty of Rome added to the overall magic of the event.

What can the fans be excited for this year?
Fans have plenty to look forward to this year. I’m committed to releasing more music, sharing fresh mixes, and engaging with them through live performances and interactions. There’s a lot in store, and I’m excited to embark on this journey with them.
