Canadian electronic veteran Greg Gow picks out 10 of his all-time favourite tracks from North American producers.

Greg Gow has been steadily building a formidable reputation as one of Canada’s greatest musical exports in recent years. From his base in Toronto, Gow skillfully intertwines the unmistakable sound of Detroit with the flavours of his hometown, creating heady, intoxicating results.

His latest release lands on Poker Flat later this month, the three-track Base Jumping EP full of thick analogue basslines and heady grooves.

Ahead of its release, Greg let us in on some of his top tracks of all time.

PAPERCLIP PEOPLE – THROW [D:VISION]
One of my all time favourite timeless tracks by Mr. Carl Craig. It rides the line between house and techno and still sounds as amazing as the first time I heard it back in the mid 90’s

MATEO MURPHY – LOVE EXPRESS [TURBO]
Coming out in 2001 Mateo Murphy turned serious heads with this release. It has energy, groove and shreds the dancefloor.

PLASTIKMAN – SPASTIK [PLUS 8]
Richie!! , Richie!! , Richie!! One word to describe this timeless bomb – sickening.

INNER CITY – GOOD LIFE [10 RECORDS]
A timeless classic. The whole album is just a smash and timeless. It also been a dream come true to later release on Kevin Saunderson’s label KMS.

GREG GOW – THE BRIDGE [TRANSMAT]
This a was a probably.hands down the biggest release of my career, Props toDerrick May or believing in me. It also relaunched Transmat back in 2008.

DBX – LOSING CONTROL [PEACEFROG]
Super stripped down minimal never gets old.

BLAKE BAXER – OUR LUV [DISKO B]
This track has been in my playlist for over 20 years…soul and techno all the way. With a tad of acid 🙂

ART DEPARTMENT – WITHOUT YOU [CROSSTOWN REBELS]
Gotta give it up to these friends Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow for putting Toronto on the map. This track was an absolute monster.

DUBFIRE – RIBCAGE [SCI_TEC]
This track is super unique and just keeps coming and coming for over 10 minutes Its deep tekky, groovy and bangin all at the same time.

FRANKIE KNUCKLES – YOUR LOVE [NOCTURNAL GROOVE]
The melody is just captivating. Add the vocals – what a classic.

Greg Gow – Base Jumping is out 31 July on Poker Flat – listen & buy
