Ramyen is a longtime lover of house and a student of the genre with his own instinctive take. His groovy, emotional sound moves naturally between melodic sensitivity and more driving textures on respected labels such as Rose Avenue and Knee Deep In Sound, helping him earn an international profile. Now he launches Mellow Records as an extension of the universe he has built around Mellow over the past few years, and as a platform dedicated to sharing his clear and honest musical vision, with a focus on exciting new French artists.
1. Hey Ramyen, thank you for sitting down with us today. How have you been?
Super, just started summer touring and I’m smiling every day about it!
2. Your latest EP, ‘Our Story,‘ is coming out on your new label, Mellow Records. Can you tell us about this release and how it came to fruition?
I made this record about a year ago and really enjoyed playing it out. The vocal resonates like a declaration of love to loops, to the ability to get carried away by their evolution, and to the change that house music brings once you truly understand it. I wanted to keep it simple around that vocal — a grooving bassline and fairly light drums, letting the voice breathe and carry the whole thing.
3. You’ve recently launched Mellow Records as an extension of your Mellow events. Can you tell us what led you to start this label and what its ethos is?
The label is the logical next step — not only to release my music on my own terms, but more importantly to bring together the Mellow ecosystem. Emerging and established artists, building bridges, letting the music blend. I can’t wait to collaborate with all these artists who are also genuinely my friends.
4. Can you tell us a bit more about your Mellow events and how they began?
It started in 2022 in St Tropez at the mythical Pablo club. We were building a residency and needed a concept, and the word Mellow immediately came to mind. It felt like me — be mellow as a state of mind, the letters of the word and its definition, fluffy, the possibilities it opened for a colorful, free-spirited art direction. I loved the concept, and we’ve let it evolve into what it is today.
5. Your Mellow events hold a focus on exciting new French artists. Will you continue to spotlight up-and-coming French artists on your label?
That’s a major pillar of the label — introducing house music with a French touch through these young artists bursting with talent and ambition.
6. How has the Parisian music scene inspired and influenced your journey in music?
Every day, honestly. But mostly the artists around me – the Parisian scene is just insanely strong, the level of talent here is something else. Of course, my residency at one of the best clubs in France, Gate Club, has helped me develop my journey – it’s clearly the main place where I play exactly what I want, and people come specifically for that.
7. What artists in the industry are exciting you at the moment?
Too many, honestly. The Israeli scene is so good right now — I love watching N.O.Y and Guy Katch work together, putting out records that just keep getting better. For my French crew, I have to spotlight the guy I work with every day on many records: Mamba Skar. The boy has everything: great image, great music, great DJ. I’m 100% sure he’s going to blow up. And one last one – I think Reboot is going to come back incredibly strong. His music fits perfectly with what’s in demand right now, even though it always has, and he’s sitting on some serious grooves, a true legend.
8. It’s been great chatting with you today. What are your plans for the rest of the year?
A great summer with my most exciting shows yet – Hï Ibiza, Amnesia, and UNVRS all for the first time, which is huge for me. And of course, showing the world what Mellow Records has to offer. In my mind, the tracks coming next are probably the best music I’ve ever had on my USB.
