Green Velvet’s Relief Records hits the US for an 11 date tour in February 2022, with Mihalis Safras and Eskuche bringing their cutting-edge blend of house and techno to some of the country’s hottest clubs.
Established in 1993 by legendary DJ and producer and electronic pioneer Green Velvet, Relief Records is one of the most longstanding and respected dance music labels in the world. From its very first release, the label has sought to push boundaries with an ever-expanding catalogue that includes contributions from an array of talented and significant artists.
This February Relief brings two of the label’s current star artists to the US for an expansive tour, with Mihalis Safras and Eskuche flying the flag for the label.
Mihalas Safras and Eskuche have been involved with Relief Records for a number of years, playing many major US cities as part of Green Velvet’s La La Land tours. Both artists have close creative relationships with Green Velvet and have collaborated on multiple releases with him.
Ahead of the tour which kicks off next month, we asked Mihalis and Eskuche to select their top 5 favourite Relief singles of all time.
Mihalis Safras Top 5
Mihalis Safras & Green velvet – SHMASH
I could not resist selecting our first collaboration with label owner and brother Green Velvet. The track is the first out of 10 titles we have released so far and has hit over 3 million streams.
Green Velvet & Patrick Topping – Voicemail
For me this is a signature track from the label, in terms of both unique vocals and the top bassline and production. It is definitely one for the floor.
Green Velvet – Preacherman
I guess it would be more reasonable to select La La Land as the most well-known track from RR, but for me Preacherman is a track that Curtis managed to push the boundaries with.
Gene Farris – Dance All Night
As Chicago made a mark on the whole dance scene, the combination of Gene and Relief couldn’t deliver anything less than a complete classic. The title says it all.
Mihalis Safras – Love Away
This was my first ever track that topped the charts. Still playing this one with the Loleatta vocal. Precious.
Eskuche Top 5
Green Velvet, Carl Craig – Rosalie
Rosalie is definitely one of my favorite tracks on Relief, just something very catchy in this vocals over that stripped beat.
Gene Farris – Move Your Body
When it just got out back in 2014 it was one of the biggest records and it still relevant today. Always brings this groovy sexy energy.
Eskuche – Concentrate
My first record I signed to release and it was a beginning of the journey with Relief family that is still going on to this day.
Green Velvet – Flash (Jamie Jones remix)
I just love Jamie’s remix of this bomb. Very hypnotic with his signature groove.
Detelf, Dajae – Deep Dip
Absolute banger, still smashes any dance floor!
