Contributing WriterSONARA announces David Mayer’s latest release, House track ‘Essence’, a personal project rooted in reflection and artistic clarity, releasing on April 26th. David Mayer is a boundary-defying producer and DJ whose palette has been shaped by multicultural upbringings in Germany, Spain, Norway, and Berlin, where he settled in 2004. Mayers blends Techno and house with a distinct focus on funked-up, pounding four-on-the-floor grooves that have been platformed on labels including Ouïe, Objektivity, Audiomatique, Keinemusik, and Connected Frontline.
Mayer’s production style is defined by rhythmic foundations paired with continuously evolving melodies. ‘Essence’ circles back to the artist’s earlier releases, favouring a stripped-back track that focuses on Mayer’s core musical preferences. Mayer’s style is prevalent throughout ‘Essence’, where shifting layers and textures meet synth-driven sonics to form a track that reflects Mayer’s artistry.
Co-founded by multi-instrumentalist producer Tooker, Jay Kurahashi-Sofue, alongside artists David Mayer and Nico Stojan, SONARA’s identity flows through Mayer’s Music, championing deep electronic, ambient, and Afro-infused sounds.
