Sol Selectas closes 2018 in style with an EP from Gab Rhome who prior to this EP has also featured on other imprints including All Day I Dream, Bar 25 Music, Kindisch, Anjunadeep, and Last Night On Earth.
Along with the two stunning originals there are also solo remixes from Whitesquare and Madmotormiquel who put their stamp on one of the two original tracks.
Whitesquare is a jazz inspired producer whose percussive style can often be found on Freerange Records, Gruuv, Toy Tonics, Mobilee, and 20/20 Vision.
All of the artists on this EP are making their debut on Sol Selectas which is run by Sabo and its artwork lovingly curated by his fiancé Helia Jamali.
Inspired by Gab Rhome’s recent trip to rural Canada, this EP captures the memories from his childhood, where he and his friends would spend time playing in the forest among the wildlife and luscious greenery.
The opening track “La Maison” means home in French and the title is representative of the EP’s concept, as Gab Rhome felt at home in the forest when visiting his parents in the house where he grew up with many happy memories. With a care free and light hearted mood and a youthful energy, this percussive melodic house track has cheerful happiness at the centre of its comforting sound.
Whitesquare’s remix of La Maison strips the track back to its percussion and using only a handful of textured sounds allows the tribal groove to take hold. The synths compliment the rhythm of drums adding to the building momentum and the vibrant energy this earthy rework delivers.
