Following the release of the empowering single “Carry You”, we caught up with the artist Beneau to take a deeper look into the creative process behind his latest offering.

Q: “Carry You” is such a powerful track—lush, emotional, and energetic. Can you walk us through your creative process behind it? Where did the first spark come from?

Beneau – The spark for “Carry You” came from an emotional place—a raw, introspective demo that was more subdued than the final version. As the creative process evolved, I felt the track needed more energy to match its emotional weight. We transformed it into a powerful instrumental, amplifying the lush, driving energy while preserving the vocalist’s heartfelt depth. This balance of raw emotion and dynamic intensity shaped “Carry You” into the uplifting, soul-stirring anthem it is today.

Q: You collaborated with Coulson on this single, and his vocals really elevate the track. How did that connection happen, and what was it like working together creatively?

Beneau – I owe the connection with Luke (a.k.a.. Coulson) to my manager’s sharp instincts. He heard the demo for “Carry You” and instantly knew Luke’s voice was the perfect fit. Luke is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter who truly listens to the music, capturing its raw emotion with ease. Working with him was seamless—his ability to translate the track’s depth into soulful, powerful vocals elevated it to another level. Creatively, we clicked, bouncing ideas freely, and his passion for the music made the process inspiring and effortless.

Q: There’s a real emotional core to “Carry You” that stands out in the melodic techno space. Was there a personal story or emotion behind the song for you?

Beneau – When producing “Carry You,” I don’t consciously tie personal stories to my music. My process is instinctive—I dive into the sounds, and the track evolves organically. On a deeper level, I’m channeling my emotions into the music, blending vulnerability with strength. Besides this, I have to give credit to Luke for translating those emotions into words. His lyrical and vocal talent gave the track its poignant, universal resonance, making it stand out in the melodic techno space.

Q: Your production style blends melodic house, techno, and emotional storytelling—who have been some of your biggest musical influences in shaping that sound?

Beneau – Growing up, my parents filled our home with classical music, which still deeply influences me. Giants like Mozart, Chopin, and Bach inspire my sense of melody and emotional storytelling, their compositions weaving intricate, emotive narratives. Beyond classical, I’m drawn to diverse music styles—everything from ambient to techno. Every genre I explore shapes my sound in some way. This blend of classical roots and eclectic influences allows me to craft tracks like “Carry You,” fusing melodic house, techno, and raw emotional depth into a cohesive, evocative style.

Q: Looking back a bit, how did your journey into electronic music begin? Was there a moment or an artist that pulled you into this world?

Beneau – My journey into electronic music kicked off with two pivotal moments. First, Martin Garrix’s “Animals” exploded when I was young, opening my eyes to electronic music production and DJing—before that, I didn’t even know it was a career! The second was attending Awakenings festival and witnessing Sam Paganini perform live. His electrifying set, pulsing with raw techno energy, was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. Those experiences ignited my passion, inspiring me to dive into creating music that blends emotional depth with dancefloor power.

Q: From the studio to the stage—how does “Carry You” translate into your live sets? Do you approach performing it differently than other tracks?

Beneau – “Carry You” is a massive vocal track, making it a standout moment in my live sets. Its emotional depth and energy create a peak experience for the crowd. Unlike other tracks, I approach it strategically, reading the audience to find or craft the perfect moment. I’ll either wait for the right vibe or build toward it with complementary tracks that amplify its impact. This deliberate pacing ensures “Carry You” hits with maximum power, connecting deeply with the crowd and elevating the set’s emotional arc.

Q: The electronic scene is always evolving. How do you stay inspired and keep your sound fresh without losing your signature identity?

Beneau – Staying inspired comes naturally because I love making music and collaborating with others—it’s the essence of creation. Working with different artists sparks fresh ideas while keeping my sound grounded. As a person and artist, I’m always evolving, and I embrace that growth. Your identity isn’t something you lose; it’s inherently you, shaped by experiences. By staying open to new influences and trusting my instincts, I keep my sound fresh while retaining the emotional, melodic core that defines my music.

Q: With “Carry You” out now, what’s next for you in 2025? Any new releases, collabs, or tour plans you can tease?

Beneau – I’m thrilled about what’s coming in 2025! In six weeks, I’m featured on a VA with Be Free Recordings, which is special because it’s crafted as a storytelling listening experience, guiding the listener from the first track to the last. After that, I’ve got a slew of new music dropping, leaning into a club and festival-ready sound—high-energy, dancefloor-focused vibes. I can’t wait to share these tracks and see them entertain crowds. Stay tuned for more collabs and potential tour announcements soon.

Q: Finally, what’s a piece of advice you’d give to up-and-coming producers trying to find their voice in the electronic music space?

Beneau – Finding your voice is unique for everyone, but what works for me is staying true to the joy of making music. Despite struggles with things like social media, the love for creating and playing music outweighs it all. Collaborate whenever possible—working with talented co-producers and vocalists elevates your art and makes the process more fun. Surround yourself with inspiring people who push your sound to new heights. Keep enjoying the journey, and let your passion guide you; that’s where your authentic voice will shine through.
