‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, the smash hit by EDM-pop pioneer David Guetta and Grammy-nominated band OneRepublic, gets a new ‘Piano version’ and a ‘Band version,’ plus a live performance music video arriving on 24th July.
While the acoustic version of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ released in June strips the dance-pop track down to frontman Ryan Tedder’s vocals, intimate acoustic guitar and cello strings, the heartwarming new ‘Piano version’ distils the track further, pulling on the heartstrings with simple but effective, glistening keys.
OneRepublic’s dynamic new ‘Band version’ features all six members and shifts away from the original dance elements, veering faintly into country music territory. A video of the track is performed live and accompanies the release, and will also be released on 24th July.
‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, originally released in April, has swiftly become one of Guetta and OneRepublic’s biggest hits respectively. Within two months, the track amassed 330 million streams worldwide and 28 million in the UK, reaching #33 on Spotify’s Global Chart. It also topped European airplay charts and Dance Radio in the US, and secured a spot in the Top 10 of Belgium’s Official Charts. The original’s music video, shot during Guetta’s headline set at Ultra Music Festival in front of 60,000 fans in Miami, now boasts over 30M views.
One of the most-streamed artists globally, French producer and DJ David Guetta continues to dominate not just dance music, but music in general. In 2023, he released ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’ featuring Anne-Marie and Coi Leray, garnering over 700 million streams. This track followed the immense success of ‘I’m Good (Blue)’ featuring Bebe Rexha, released in August 2022, which topped Spotify globally and earned Guetta his eleventh Grammy nomination for ‘Best Dance/Electronic Recording.’ The song gathered an astonishing 2.7 billion streams worldwide, topping official charts in 11 markets, and reaching #1 on both the US Top 40 and US Dance Radio charts.
As a two-time #1 winner of the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs award, Guetta’s live shows are an EDM spectacle. He performs hits from his extensive catalogue like ‘Titanium’ ft. Sia, ‘When Love Takes Over’, and ‘Sexy Chick’ ft. Akon, alongside cutting-edge dance music from today’s most innovative artists. This summer, Guetta has been a focal point on the White Isle with two Ibiza nightclub residencies. His weekly ‘Future Rave’ party at Hï Ibiza, running until October in collaboration with Danish DJ MORTEN, features exciting guests such as Meduza, James Hype, and Benny Benassi. Meanwhile, ‘F*** Me I’m Famous!’ at Ushuaïa Ibiza stands as one of the island’s longest-running residencies, attracting dance music’s biggest names since its inception in 2003.
OneRepublic are a band that effortlessly dominates global pop charts with hits like ‘I Ain’t Worried’ (1.6B Spotify streams) and ‘Counting Stars’ (2.5B Spotify streams), the latter of which has reached four billion views on YouTube. Comprised of frontman Ryan Tedder, guitarists Zach Filkins and Drew Brown, keyboardist Brian Willett, bassist/cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher, their 2007 debut album ‘Dreaming Out Loud’ featured the Grammy-nominated single ‘Apologize,’ which sold 20 million copies. The band now has around 64M monthly streams and 5B overall streams on Spotify.
Ryan Tedder, the band’s frontman and vocalist on ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, has made a name for himself as a solo artist. He notably featured on Far East Movement’s 2010 track, ‘Rocketeer’, Alesso and Sebastian Ingrosso’s 2012 dance hit ‘Calling (Lose My Mind)’, and previously worked with David Guetta on the track, ‘S.T.O.P.’. Away from the mic, he’s a talented producer and songwriter, haing worked with the likes of Taylor Swift, Tate McRae, Adele, Justin Timberlake, Karol G, Ed Sheeran, BLACKPINK, U2 and more. He also contributed to Beyoncé’s earth-quaking March album ‘COWBOY CARTER’, on the track ‘II Most Wanted’ featuring Miley Cyrus.
David Guetta and OneRepublic are a match made in heaven and together are riding the wave of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, which is surely one of the biggest dance-pop tracks of the past decade.
