As Italian establishment Black Box Records release their next vinyl output we caught up with label founder, Vito Fattore. BLBX04 is a four track VA meandering through shades of house from a host of talented artists hailing from Italy, these being Vito himself, Ruff Stuff, Floska, and DJ GLC.  We discussed the label, upcoming projects, and everything in between, here is what went down…

Hi Vito, thanks for talking to us. How was 2020 for you? Where do you reside? Hi Guys, thanks to you, it’s a pleasure for me! Unfortunately, due to covid-19, 2020 was a difficult year. The music sector has received a blow, like so many other sectors, but I hope that in 2021 everything can be resumed.I currently reside in Italy, having lived for several years in Berlin.

Can you tell us a little about the label you manage Black Box Records? When did you launch it? I created Black Box Records in 2016, a vinyl-only label with a house stamp. There have been several collaborations with artists of the caliber of Tommy Vicari, Enrico Mantini, Dj Delivery, etc …

The next VA will be out this October with some fantastic artists and featuring your track “Miami Alive”. How did the release with Ruff Stuff, Floska and DJ GLC come about? “Miami Alive” was produced during the first months of the pandemic, during an “escape from reality” need. I have met friends Ruff Stuff, Floska and Dj GLC over the years, during events and evenings. Hence the desire to collaborate with them, exquisite and professional artists…

What studio bits are you working on at the moment?
I spend a lot of time in the studio. Studying and listening to a lot of music, I find inspiration for sounds to extrapolate, mix, in order to create new tracks.Soon there will be the release of another VA with the Berlin label Deep Square Records, of my great friend Alain Taty, with whom I have been collaborating for years.

What other plans do you have for Black Box in the coming months?
There are many projects, but I don’t want to reveal anything to you. I like to create suspense and the surprise effect!

What advice would you give to someone starting a label?
The advice I can give is to always believe in yourself and in what you are doing. You must be hungry. Never lose heart!

Can you give us a track that takes you back to summer?
A track that makes me think of summer is undoubtedlyVICARI – Outside (Black Box Records) BLBX02 https://youtu.be/M5Fx4qGwA6A
