Contributing WriterToday, Maxi Degrassi joins the All Day I Dream family with an ethereal EP, ‘The Love Goes First.’ The Argentinian talent’s inaugural entry unfolds across four tracks, setting the tone with a cerebral title opener which traverses a soundscape marked with creeping basslines, lush percussion, and buzzy synths.
Each piece of ‘The Love Goes First’ puzzle connects to the other. With a similar low-end and rhythmic structure, “String Of Feelings” pairs gentle piano chords and vocal samples with a distinctive, downward progression to bring about a sense of calming bliss. “Keep Moving” takes a contemplative direction, focusing around a classic, soulful vocal and bursts of steely synths. Degrassi draws upon the same vocal source for “About Energies,” bringing back orchestral elements from the EP’s namesake cut while cutting down the percussion for a more classic house touch.
Maxi is just beginning to step into his own as an artist, but boasts an already impressive track record. He’s a resident for one of Argentina’s most prestigious melodic house institutions, Desert In Me, touring around his home country alongside the brand and growing his presence on the local front. Globally, he’s released with an array of reputable labels in his space, including Seven Villas, Souksonic, and Magician On Duty. With a notable backing by Lee Burridge and the All Day I Dream camp, he’s on his way to becoming a next generation leader in his field.
