In 2025, Dr. Motte, the Berlin-born DJ, producer, and cultural pioneer, marks his 40th anniversary as a DJ. From his early days in West Berlin’s underground scene to founding the iconic Love Parade in 1989, Dr. Motte has been at the forefront of electronic music culture. The Love Parade, initially a small non-verbal dance protest, grew into the largest dance music event in history, peaking in 1999 with 1.5 million participants.

Beyond the music, Dr. Motte has consistently championed values of unity, peace, and cultural recognition. In 2019, he initiated “Rave The Planet,” a new parade aiming to highlight techno as a significant cultural movement. His efforts contributed to Berlin’s techno scene being listed as intangible cultural heritage by the German UNESCO Commission in 2024.

To mark his 40th year behind the decks, Dr. Motte will be part of this summer’s Rave The Planet Parade in Berlin,  the spiritual successor to the iconic Love Parade he founded back in 1989. Taking place on July 12 under the banner “Our Future Is Now,” the parade will once again flood the streets between Brandenburg Gate and Victory Column with beats, bodies and a bold message: techno is culture – and it deserves to be seen, supported and protected.

But the Berlin legend isn’t just celebrating his legacy with one event. Throughout 2025, Dr. Motte will continue to spread his message of peace, unity and creative freedom across Europe and beyond, with a string of high-energy gigs, festival sets and underground appearances that showcase the full force of his four-decade sonic journey.

Dr. Motte’s DJ sets are renowned for their unpredictability, energy, and ability to captivate audiences, whether in underground clubs, major festivals, or global streams. His commitment to fairness, unity, and creative freedom continues to inspire and shape the electronic music landscape.

As Berlin prepares for the Rave The Planet Parade 2025, attendees can look forward to a celebration that honors the past, energizes the present, and envisions a future where electronic music culture thrives as a recognized and protected art form.
