Still young in their musical journey, yet with appearances in the books at the likes of fabric, DC10 and Creamfields already, DJ/production duo Josh Lewis and Caolan Savage, aka Nautica, have been turning heads over recent years as they craft and shape their take on the groove-leaning end of house music. Building on releases via PIV, elrow, Solid Grooves Raw and more, they now switch attention towards the launch of their own imprint, TYDE – a creative outlet from the pair looking to host material drawing inspiration from 90s house, UK garage and the deep house era of the early 2010s. Launching the label with a unique project, they turn their hand to remixing 95 North’s 1995 hit ‘Let Yourself Go’, with early love from Richy Ahmed, PAWSA, TSHA, Archie Hamilton, East End Dubs, Prunk and more.

Skippy drums, rich stabs, and hooky female vocal snippets build and blossom as the pair’s slick interpretation emerges before employing further garage-leaning tinges and subtle melodies for a bright and crisp production made for big moments on the dancefloor.

Hey guys, how are you both? Lovely to be talking with you.

We’re great thanks! Just off the back of a busy couple of weeks with releases and gigs, so it’s good to chat!

You just launched your new label TYDE, congrats! How long has the project been in the works?

To be honest we’ve been sat on the idea of creating our own label since COVID. We spent the time in lockdown when we were unable to play any gigs, developing the brand identity and then it was just down to launching at the right time. We made the release around April time this year and it was by far our most requested ID of the Summer. It got a huge reaction at our first TYDE party, so it couldn’t be more fitting. Over three years in the making and it’s finally here!

Most artists launch a label with an original single or EP, however, the first release on the label is slightly unconventional as it’s a remix – why did you decide to take this route?

We made the track just before Summer as an original, heavy sampling the iconic 95 North – Let Yourself Go, when we then thought about going down the clearance route. We agreed that the sample was so prominent in the track that it was probably more fitting as a remix. 95 North have been a huge inspiration to us over the years, so when they agreed to license it to us as a remix on our very own label we were over the moon.

We’ve seen the remix has been getting support from artists like Josh Butler and Prunk, how has the early reception been?

Over the last few months we’ve been hammering the track in our sets as well as sending it out to a couple of close DJ mates and we got some amazing feedback. It’s really been a standout tune for us and the reaction on dancefloors really has been our biggest to date. We’re buzzing with the response… To see it go off in front of 10k+ people at Creamfields with Alisha and East End Dubs playing it, that was the moment we knew we were onto something.

What’s next for you and the label?

For us, we’re really looking to put our energy into TYDE on the label and events front, alongside continuing a solid run of releases towards the back end of the year. We’ve got some of our best music coming between now and next Spring. With TYDE we’re really focussing on establishing our sound towards the deeper end of the spectrum, branching our party out to other cities across the UK whilst still keeping a focus on extended sets / all-night long performances.
