Not familiar yet with Simon Kidzoo? Get up to speed. The Dutch producer has made himself known with releases for big shot imprints Toolroom, Saved, Club Sweat, Under No Illusion, South Of Saturn and Nervous, and has left his signature on the set lists of Green Velvet, Marco Carola, The Martinez Brothers, Camelphat, Mark Knight and Nic Fanciulli, with more queuing round the block. The Zoo ‘keeper arrives with Clarisse on the verge of completing a century of releases.
A techno-styled cyber bass, twisting and rolling while on the run from the mad scientist’s laboratory, is the feed for ‘Familiar Face’, trying its luck with rap samples firing their best chat-up lines. Here’s hoping the lucky lady in question shares an interest in straight-shooting, techno-shocked beats, but no doubt she’ll start to jack with the all the bodies around her once Kidzoo starts getting scientific with that most slippery of ray-gun loops.
The only acquaintance ‘Foolish’ wants to make is one where stomping feet meet a dancefloor in its eleventh hour. Taken to the top by disaster movie strings creating a workably weird moment of black & white climax, and an equally panicked script sample activating action stations, Kidzoo zooms in on popping percussion, helter skelter filters and thick drums with just the right amount of trampoline about them to ease any concerns. Minimal but heavily armed, there’s absolutely no kidding around with this one either.
