East London’s Rupert Ellis has solidified his reputation as a key figure in the capital’s scene, transitioning from a resident at Circa Groove to a sought-after producer with an assured sound. On 6th March, he debuted on Rossi.’s HOME//GRXWN. imprint with the ‘Let’s Take A Ride’ EP, a four-track collection that expertly balances hypnotic grooves with intricate, atmospheric detail. The release demonstrates Ellis’s ability to craft diverse club-ready textures, ranging from the elastic, rhythmic pressure of the opening track ‘FMR’ to the zipping, cosmic tones and driving energy found in the title track.
Expanding on the sound that has previously earned him spots on labels like LOCUS and Into The Woods, the flip side of the record dives into deeper, more immersive territory. ‘Horizon Call’ pairs subtle melodic flourishes with hypnotic textures, while the closing track ‘Gravity Loop’ shifts the energy toward the late-night hours with pulsating synths and a propulsive rhythm. By fusing his East London roots with a polished, modern production style, Ellis uses this HOME//GRXWN. debut to showcase the full breadth of his club-focused vision.
