Rebecca Garton is at a pivotal point in her career, armed with a new EP titled Take Me Home that spans across R&B, Pop and African influences, soon to be released via 3Beat on 13th November.

Born in Ghana, raised in Nigeria and finally settling in the UK for her A-Levels and University, Garton has been exposed to a vast world of musical influences, from the likes of Sade, Lionel Ritchie and Lauryn Hill, plus the edge of UK MCs like JME that she encountered when she moved to London.

Talking about the EP Garton says, “Culture and where I’m from plays a massive part,” she explains. “Even down to drum patterns or certain words, I may use African language or context to say certain things. It’s something I’m very proud of, as much as I’m British and my dad was English, the African part of me is such a big part of my life, it’s really who I am down to my core. It’s important that people understand that.”

The Take Me Home EP explores many types of heart break that Garton has endured over the last few years, including the passing of her beloved Father, who always encouraged and supported her music career. As well as delving into ideas such as women empowerment, utlising experiences from the past five years, exploring her musical palette and striking up partnerships with various producers.

Annie Mac recently named Garton her New Name feature on BBC Radio 1. Garton has also been the subject of ‘One To Watch’ features across renowned publications such as Music Week’s ‘On The Radar,’ CLASH Magazine, MTV and The Independent. One of her latest tracks ‘All Me’ and the second all-female version of the track ‘All Me Pt 2’ (which features Ling Hussle, Alana Maria and Tia Carys) has received tremendous support across radio. It was playlisted on BBC 1xtra B-list for 9 weeks running, was Capital XTRA’s Homegrown Track Of The Day and was BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Track of The Week (w/c 25th September).

With the Take Me Home EP, Rebecca Garton cements her position in the UK music scene and beyond.
