TEMPLE is a solo project from Adelaide based artist Ben Smith. Ben has spent the last decade running a record label, playing in bands, touring Australia and playing at festivals including Rainbow Serpent, WOMADelaide, Wide Open Space and Strawberry Fields Festival to name a few. Throughout this time Ben has been working on solo material, while writing and producing records for other people. It’s now finally time to share his musings with the world.
“This release has been 10 years in the making. There’s not a single track on it that has been made in the last 5 years. However, with my crippling anxiety of not finishing songs and sharing them with the world, it is only now in overcoming that anxiety that these tracks are finally seeing the light of day. I’ve struggled for years with judgment, creating the “perfect” (perfection is an illusion) song and being concerned with what other people will think about my art. 2020 was a year that I drew a line in the sand and said enough is enough – I need to share myself with the world, the good and the bad, and this hard drive full of music. For art not shared is simply self-flagellation”
