Hailing from Glasgow and formed in 2018, Flows have had releases on the likes of Glasgow Underground, Superfett and Lyceum Social Club among others. They’re back with Power, a euphoric piano house gospel anthem in collaboration with Edinburghʼs own His Bitter Truth.

His Bitter Truth is as an artist, session vocalist and writer who has worked with a huge range of artists including Sandy Rivera, Todd Terry, Louie Vega, MNEK, Low Steppa, Annie Mac, Simma Black, Motive Records, Kylie, Beverley Knight, House Gospel Choir and even The Muppets. With radio support from the likes of Sam Divine, MistaJam and Charlie Sloth, His Bitter Truth is a multifaceted artist to watch.

With their new collab Power out now, they’ve put together a playlist of their inspirations, starting with His Bitter Truth.

His Bitter Truth

Alison Limerick – Where Love Lives (Frankie Knuckles Classic Mix)

That iconic piano line never fails to bring me joy any time I hear it!

C+C Music Factory / ARETHA – A Deeper Love

The gospel vocals of the inimitable Aretha over that driving beat. Simply sublime.

Blair

David Morales – Needin U

I think whether intentionally or not this track was definitely an inspiration for the production of Power. I love this piano house tune and when making Power we wanted something that invoked the same uplifting hands in the air moments this track gives.

Mele – Conga Mode

Mele has always been an inspiration to me. Although we don’t tend to make his kind of music his productions are always next level. How he gets so much from so little is just astounding to me. He’s been about building a vibe in his tracks always and I love it. Very rarely does he miss.

Monki – Feels Darker

If this track has somehow passed you by, give it a listen. Astounding production and sound design on this, love the M1 piano into the almost acid rave style.

Brrak & Dan Liano – Make You Mine

Just classic house vibes from local producer Brrak. He’s been a guest on the podcast and his work rate is unbelievable! More people should know about Brrak and here’s an example of why!

Dave

Soulwax – Another Excuse

Back when Blair and I first met at college in 2008 I wasn’t particularly listening to dance music and was more drawn to listening to everything from Brit Pop to rap. When Blair introduced me to Soulwax, it was a bit of a lightbulb moment and Nite Versions still influences me today musically. What an album!

CeCe Rogers – Someday

This track has always been close to my heart, the vocal and piano line are perfect and so iconic. Whether I am listening to it on the morning commute or over a big club system it still sounds so fresh and relevant today. Blair and I had the pleasure of playing on a bill with him last summer at Ibiza Rocks and he was such a gentleman.

The Vision feat. Andreya Triana – Heaven

I’ve loved this song ever since I first heard it. The vocals are so infectious and just makes me want to go dancing any time I hear it. So if you haven’t already, get this added to your playlist!
