Paul Najera teams up with Jr Quijada to create ‘Standing in Space’ that lands on Steve Lawler’s VIVa MUSiC label and features Steve Lawler’s very own Pendulum Dub Edit.

San Diego native Paul Najera has dedicated himself to house music for over 20 years, playing shows in major cities like San Francisco, Miami & New York. His love for Chicago-style, jackin house naturally led him to producing with long-time friend, Jr. Quijada. You can find their music on labels such as Todd Terry’s InHouse Records, Purveyor Underground and Robsoul Recordings making VIVa MUSiC a natural progression for the duo adding to their ever-impressive release schedule.

The original version of ‘Standing in Space’ opens up the release. Paul Najera tells us “We were going for an old school mid 2000’s tech house vibe with this track. Simple rhythms accompanied with driving drums”. The duo have created exactly what they set out to achieve with this one, a serious slice of house music with this one with its influences shining through in all the right ways.

Next up, label boss Steve Lawler joins the release with his Pendulum Dub Edit. About the release, Steve says…

“The second I received this track I knew I had to have it, it was so close to a “Tenaglia esq” vibe that I thought ok, it’s not quite there but almost, so I decided to create a dub edit for myself to play at my new night PENDULUM. I slowed it down, changed key, added sirens and FX and made it just right for me. Due to how well it sounded playing out, I thought I need to let others have this. The original is a serious piece of house music, and my dub edit just makes it that little bit Dirtier”

The duo make an impressive debut on VIVa MUSiC which is perfectly complemented by Steve Lawler’s Pendulum Dub Edit, showcasing exactly why this one is destined take over dancefloors around the world.
