Jim Rider returns to TRYBESof for his third release on Lee Burridge’s imprint continuing his impressive run of releases to date on labels including All Day I Dream, The Soundgarden, Kindisch and the list goes on.
Opening up the EP, lead track “Gordita” takes inspiration from recent visits to Latin America and features vocals from San Diego based Mexicana PALOMA. A bouncy bassline and a plucky synth carry the melody while ethereal synths combined with latin percussion and pianos underpinning the rest of the track.
“Taniura” ventures into afro house. It’s a bass heavy roller with the lower end reminiscent of Booka Shade. The track is a heavier affair for Jim but stays within his melodic, groove laden style with strings, santoors, cowbells and congas providing the rhythm.
Closing out the EP “When I Lose My Mind” fuses organic and melodic elements with classic house piano stabs and sweeping synths to create a 90’s feel while remaining ever present.
This EP kicks off a year ahead packed with releases and shows around the world for the British DJ/Producer making him a serious name to watch for 2024 and beyond.
