Morgan Seatree hails from Manchester, bringing a healthy respect for the old school alongside his signature fast-paced sound across his productions, releasing music on the likes of Too Many Rules and Ministry of Sound.

We caught up with Morgan Seatree to talk about ‘The Strength’, his collaboration with Tasty Lopez and a little bit more about his very own imprint ‘Unfussy’

Hi Morgan, welcome to Music Is 4 Lovers! Where in the world are you right now?

Hey guys, sunny Manchester!

This June you will release your latest single ‘The Strength’ on Trick. What was the inspiration behind this track?

So, even though I wasn’t around to first-hand experience the era of 90s house music, I’m absolutely obsessed with it. So all of my tracks, especially this one, my aim was to create something that could sit right into that era but also have a Morgan Seatree flavour to it.

What drew you to work with Tasty Lopez, and what unique qualities does she bring to the release?

I was introduced to Tasty a few years back and we have had one official release together prior to this and a bunch of unreleased stuff. When I made this tune I knew she was perfect for it and we have a great understanding together and just click musically. It really is a dream team.

Are there any collaborations with other artists that you would love to explore in the future? Who would be your dream collaborator?

I would love to collab with Kerri Chandler one day. He is one of my heroes and biggest inspirations so that would be insane to gain some knowledge from him and see what we could make.

How did you come to release on Trick?

A bit of an outside the box one really. So basically, I was trying super hard to get Patrick to hear my music but of course, he is so busy, so it was really hard for him to see it. So what I did was put an Instagram post up of 2 tracks and I said in the caption, “If you like these tunes, tag Patrick Topping and Trick in the comments” as I know when people do that it shows in their feed. Anyway, 150 comments later he saw it and we just went from there.

How does it feel to see your music resonate with audiences and achieve such success?

It’s an incredible feeling, I’m super critical sometimes so when I do play my music out or other people do, seeing them smiling and getting lost in it really does top it for me.

What is the single best piece of advice you can offer aspiring artists?

You probably hear it every interview but be original, be personal and be humble. Combine all 3 of those and you can’t go wrong!

Are there any specific venues or festivals you’re hoping to perform at to showcase your new tracks?

My 2 dream ones being from Manchester are Parklife and WHP. These are the 2 that made me want to be a DJ, so I’m hoping soon enough ill achieve that dream.

To this moment, what would you consider your most significant achievement in your career as an artist?

100% securing the Trick release. Just because of how badly I worked for it and wanted it. To now see it come to life means everything.

Can you tell us about your record label ‘Unfussy’ and its mission or vision? Are there any upcoming events or releases from your label that you’re particularly excited about?

Yes, Unfussy was inspired by what Trick are doing but with my own sound of that 90s era. My mission is to be a brand of the people and take it global with parties and releases. We have some amazing parties coming up, one of them being in an actively used Cathedral! We are also launching the releases this month but I can’t quite spill the beans on who’s releasing yet!

What goals or milestones do you hope to achieve as a DJ/label owner in the near future?

I would love to be touring in the UK and internationally as soon as possible and making people dance along the way. A career in music is all I’ve ever wanted.

Thank you for your time and for sharing your insights with us. Lastly, what message or piece of advice would you like to share with your fans and aspiring DJs who look up to you?

If you’re looking to become a DJ or Producer, GO FOR IT. It’s a hard game to crack but if you truly love it enough you will get there and be nice along the way.
