TALKTOME is an artist reborn, having found early success before taking a step back from the scene to focus on other projects. His label, Talktomemusic is a recently launched imprint for him to unleash various musical identities, with his recent productions gaining support from Alinka, Curses and Justin Robertson. He took time out to chat with Music Is 4 Lovers about his forthcoming single ‘Callin’, label talk and other passions in life aside from music.
Hi Talktome, thanks for taking the time to talk to Music is 4 Lovers. Can you tell us where about in the world you are based and what is your home town/city like right now?
Hi!! I’m based in Barcelona and it’s a bit overwhelming now to be honest. Most music venues are closed, there are no live shows, and little fun. Too many people are suffering and you can feel it in the mood, the energy is heavier than ever.
2020 was a hugely challenging year for everyone, and the music industry was obviously hard hit. How have you been over the last 12 months and have positives come out of this for you?
I’ve been in the studio for years, and now that I have several releases coming, there are no venues to play. I miss playing in public. However, a long time ago I decided not to depend on music for a living. It can change the way you express yourself. I try to be grateful for everything I have, so I’m happy with everything that happened to me during the last year.
Your new release ‘Callin’ is coming on your own eponymous label. Can you tell us a little about this record, the story behind it and how it was written and produced?
It is about causality, fate, energy, who knows. I had a communication mixup about meeting some friends and ended up staying home with my girlfriend, playing in the studio while my friends were waiting for me. The vocal suddenly came out, and I built the track from there. At that time, I had to be with my friends, is it causality? Fate? I believe music controls me not vice versa.
You have a mix on the record from Roselet, what can you tell us about the remixer?
Roselet is a non-binary entity that also created the Artwork. It’s a remix made for fun, to make people happy, to dance.
This latest run of music from you comes of the back of many years on the scene. What can you tell us about your previous work in electronic music?
The past is not important. This is a new beginning and the coming releases will tell totally new stories. : )

Away from producing, DJing and recording, what are your passions and pursuits?
Personal growth, understanding life and human behavior. I’m passionate about people, a personality collector. I actually label all kinds of music depending on character profiles in my head.
What do you have lined up for the year ahead?
Release a lot of music, that also relates to releasing the hard work, emotions and experiences behind the music. And keep growing in my personal life, of course.
