This week’s Hometown Heroes takes us to Minsk, Belarus. Here we found NINA INDI, a local DJ who keeps the techno flame burning in the city. Not much happens in Minsk but whenever there’s a dance party NINA is there — Heroine status for sure! Her dark minimal style is oddly enough a breath of fresh air for the HH series, and we’re delighted to add her to the roster.

Interview with NINA INDI:
How did you get into DJing? Where does your dark taste in music come from?
It happened so, that music is hand in hand with me from my very childhood. When I was 14 or something like this I turned the music on loud and act like a Dj on a huge dancefloor. When I grew up I started to visit different parties and other events and figure out something that is close to me. So I came to techno and tech house. I’ve learned how to play, how to find out what’s mine from vast amount of music – that was my start as a dj.
Tell us about the scene in Minsk. Do you have any residencies?
Of course, we cannot boast of a variety of the dance scene , but sometimes, events that take place in our city surprise and delight us. At the right moment I’m resident at “Muskat” and “Chill Out” bars, where a lot of amazing parties take place.
What gig do you dream about?
I admire many different events all over the world, but especially I want to mark out such festivals like Sónar and ENTER and play at them.
Tell us about your productions.
At this time I play deep tech house and underground techno. My performance is full of powerful feed and bright juicy tracks.
Also, I want to note, that this year my first EP release will come out on US label Keep Playing Records. I’m looking forward for it so much.
What is your favorite track to play out right now?
I have a few favorite tracks, for example:
Elektrochemie – You’re My Kind
Super Flu – Volkwein
Especially I like Hundreds – Please Rewind (The/Das Remix)
Drink of choice…
Juice and water.
