Hey Djudo, how are you, how has 2021 been for you?

Dominique: Djudo is doing great so far. 2021 has been a lot of work, but it was all worth it. The release of the EP was the icing on the cake.

What is the scene in Switzerland like where you are, are you lone operators or are you part of a vibrant creative community?

Gilberto: There has always been a large House and Techno scene here in Switzerland. But we as producers are relatively new to the game.

Tell us about growing up there, and how you got into music – was it there or via radio and internet?

Dominique: I grew up taking keyboard lessons, so music was always a big part of my life. Of course, the Internet was a huge new oppurtinity to get access to new music. Growing up, we listened and produced a lot of Drum’n’Bass music. We were, still are, big fans of that genre.

Is there a certain sound that is unique there, a certain take on house and techno that separates it from the rest of the world you think? And what is your own musical identity, what makes your music unique do you hope?

Gilberto: I don’t think that there is a certain “swiss sound”. Switzerland is very multi-cultural, so the output may be very diverse. I don’t think that we’re trying to make a unique sound. But our influences certainly contribute to a certain vision of Afro House.

What gear do you use, does that matter?

Dominique: We keep it as simple as possible. DAW, Midi-Keyboard and a separate keyboard that we use for trying out new ideas on the spot.

What inspired or influenced the new “Lilefo” EP on Afroterraneo, what was the aim?
Gilberto: A lot of things can be inspiring. A current track, an old song, different genres, a vocal sample, everything. But I can’t tell you what ultimately inspired the EP. We also didn’t aim for something in general. I personally like it when two worlds clash and the result is something new. Maybe that was the aim. We just try to make good music.

What else is coming up that you are working on that you would like to share?

Gilberto: We are currently working on some new remixes for labels and artists, including Afroterraneo. We also have new material of our own, where we’re trying out new sounds and head to a slightly different direction.
