With some huge early career support from the likes of Solomun, Dixon, Adriatique and Trikk to name a few, Israeli duo Hard To Tell (Roy Leibovitz and Roi Zarhi) have consolidated their status as the pair you want to see behind the decks if you’re going out for a night of a lifetime in Tel Aviv. Over the past three years they’ve brought that intensity and showmanship to gigs in Ibiza, Berlin, Brazil, Slovakia, Tulum, Italy, Mykonos among others, and their global takeover is assured with a slew of upcoming releases and an album in work.

Hello guys and welcome to M14L! How are you both today?

Hi guys it’s a pleasure to be here with you, we are doing well tnx!

Where in the world are you right now?

At this moment we are sitting in our studio in Tel Aviv city 🙂

We’ve got your recent release Arabic Sub on your label Pills on Heels on repeat. Can you talk to us more about this record?

The track “Arabic Sub” we produced it together with a close friend – Zohar Ezra – who is an amazing singer in Arabic. We saw uniqueness in its language and accent along with dark and deep electronic music. The inspiration came from the tense situation that existed at the time and we wanted to show that there is no politics in music and everything can be done together!

Why did you decide to set up this label?

We always wanted to release a lot of music of us and music from different artists that we love and when you have your own label you can do it whenever you like so we decided to open our label “Pills On Heels” with our partner Nariz. a lot of fresh music coming up in 2022!

Going back to your early partying days, can you tell us when you fell in love with electronic music?

Back in the 80s we fell in love with electronic music and underground clubs and from there we just loved it more and more.

Why did you choose to pursue Melodic House over other genres of electronic music?

Our music is not based on one specific genre, it is a combination of a wide variety of different cultures and from different worlds in electronic music .

What do you enjoy most about being an artist?

We really enjoy traveling around the world and playing our music on big stages or small clubs. We love to meet new people and new places and the most important thing is that we enjoy just watching the sunset and the sunrise in different places 🙂

And what do you struggle with the most?

The truth is we are not struggling with anything. Sometimes there are difficulties in production and in life but we overcome them quickly and continue to work very hard as always.

Looking forwards, do you have any specific goals or objectives you would like to achieve this year?

In the coming year we have a lot of goals to achieve and the main one is to release as much music as possible on different labels and also on our label and to make interesting and new collaborations!

Finally, do you have any other projects coming up soon that you’d like to share with us?

We got a very interesting release soon with a very good artist that we love on a label that we love so stay tuned!

Thanks guys!

All the best! Roi & Roy
