Swedish brothers Jonas Rathsman and Franz Novotny have released their first single, ‘Monster,’ under the name of Modern Tales. The duo captivated crowds with stunning live shows while supporting RÜFÜS DU SOL on tour, eventually leading to Modern Tales signing to the group’s label Rose Avenue.

Jonas and Franz formed Modern Tales after achieving their own individual success – Jonas as a melodic house and techno producer and Franz as a vocalist. The brothers, drawn to working together in the height of the pandemic, opted to approach the project with a blank sonic canvas rather than rely on their respective experiences as musicians.

“We’re thrilled to finally be able to share our music as Modern Tales. As brothers. Monster, being one of our first ever songs created as ’Modern Tales’, is a story that portrays something that we feel that many people can relate to – liberation. Breaking yourself free from whatever ’monster’  is holding you back, preventing you from reaching the full, wonderful and prolific potential you deserve.”  – Modern Tales

‘Monster’ marks the official beginning of a collaborative musical journey for the Scandinavian brothers and an exciting, indie-electronic project. In music and lyrics, ‘Monster,’ contrasts the angst of being held back with the weightlessness of freeing oneself from doubt and negativity. The track moves seamlessly from a dark, spiraling chopped up hook to a dreamy chorus, showcasing Modern Tales’ vocal range and production chops.

‘Monster’ is a product of their shared musical vision and is a preview of what else is to come.

The duo will join RÜFÜS at Sundream May 4-7 in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico.
