Peruvian Ammo Avenue continues his rise through the underground music scene returning to Carlo Lio and Nathan Barato’s RAWthentic Music label with his Sway EP.
EP opener ‘Sway’, the lead track from the EP, once again shows off Ammo’s now signature sound with grooving basslines this time paired with disco influences showing us a different side to his productions. The track builds and takes us on a disco infused journey leading us into the main breakdown where we see the track really take hold and command attention towards the climactic drop making this perfect for peak time on the dancefloor.
Next comes ‘Latin Chop’, with its sample driven stabs, chops and loops, it keeps us moving and grooving throughout asking us ‘You feel it?’ we certainly feel this one from the first to last beat.
Finally closing out the EP ‘She Chose Me’ shows a more downtempo side to Ammo’s production, with its deeper grooves and a bassline to match, guitar licks and rap-vocal hits that take us through the breakdowns keeping the vibes up high making this cut as effective in the big room as it is at the day time parties.
This EP continues to show why Ammo Avenue is continuing to make a name for himself as one of South Americas hottest names to watch. Having recently returned from taking his signature sound on tour across Ecuador, you’ll find him playing week in week out in his home country Peru supporting some of the biggest names in electronic music and making his debut at BPM Costa Rica early next year.

Hey Ammo, how have you been? Thanks for talking to us.
Hey guys! All good around here – Thanks for having me once again 🙂
Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and your journey so far?
Absolutely. The past 18 months have been quite a ride. I think I’ve managed to make the most out of my time at home to maximize my career and land really important releases and live shows.
Your new EP is coming on RAWthentic Music, tell us about the EP and what inspired its sound?
I’m so thrilled for this EP. I think it’s such a dope way to close the year and showcase my love for sampling. This EP is driven by the love of twisting sounds and landing them onto a sick beat. I’m happy Rawthentic saw that and really supported this sound!
We have seen you have been back playing in front of crowds, how have you found the transition to being back behind the decks again?
Luckily, yes! I’m very grateful for the fact that we have been able to go back to doing what we love the most: Sharing beats live. It has been amazing to jump back on the decks and showcase a lot of new sounds from colleagues and myself.
We’d love to know more about the electronic music scene in Peru, can you tell us about it?
It’s banging around here. People are truly in love with the underground sound, beyond “posing” or going to a party just to look cool. I think that true devotion for music really makes us stand out as a crowd and that is also portrayed in the level of productions we are having at the moment. Getting bigger and bigger! Hopefully protocols / distance see the end sometime soon so we can showcase ourselves the proper way. No limits!
We’re coming to the end of 2021, can you share some of your highlights from the year with us?
Landing my debut release on Black Book earlier this year was something big for me. Also having the chance to play over 50 gigs in a year that seemed kinda dead at the beginning is definitely a blessing.
And finally, in 2022, what’s coming next for you?
I’m beyond pumped for 2022 as January 14th will see my debut at the massive BPM Festival in Costa Rica. Lots of new music coming too on Circus, Repopulate Mars, W&O Street Tracks and more. Also my debut sample pack coming through a personal favorite label 😉
