Thanks for taking the time to chat with us. How’s the year been treating you so far?
Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us.
It’s been a crazy year so far. We’re still a very young project; we started just over a year ago, and what we’ve achieved in such a short amount of time has been pretty incredible.
We’ve put a lot of work, energy, and dedication into the project, and it’s great to see it paying off. Things are moving in the right direction, the results are coming, and we’re really happy with where we are.
For anyone discovering you for the first time, how did Elbio & Denis come together as a duo?
We met at the beginning of 2025 and decided to spend a few days in the studio together. We quickly realised there was a great connection between us, both professionally and personally, and that our strengths were very complementary.
Elbio comes from a fashion and creative background and owns his own communication agency, while Denis is a real studio animal and an excellent producer.
It didn’t take us long to realise that combining these two different skills could make us a strong match, especially for what the music industry demands today.
You’ve recently launched your own label, No Eyes On Us. What made you want to start your own imprint, and what’s the ethos behind it?
First and foremost, before being producers, DJs or musicians, we are clubbers. We have a deep love for club culture, and that’s really what drives this whole project.
The industry has been changing a lot recently and, in many ways, becoming more mainstream. With No Eyes on Us, we want to create something that represents the other side of that, something more connected to subculture, where the music is the real protagonist and the approach feels a little more underground.
Of course, we’re also entrepreneurs, and we want the project to grow and be successful. But at its core, No Eyes on Us has to stay authentic to what club culture means to us and to the reasons why we fell in love with this world in the first place.
Your new EP ‘One Shot’ is out now on the label. Can you take us through the tracks and the ideas behind them?
With this EP and probably as a general direction for our first releases, we want to follow a two-track formula. One track is more underground, minimal and strong, while the other is a little more accessible and often influenced by house music.
The stronger, more underground tracks are really our core. They are the soul of our sets and probably the music that represents us best as a duo.
Then we like to have another track that can break the flow in an unexpected way and create a special moment on the dancefloor. As clubbers ourselves, we know how important those moments can be — they can take people even deeper into the journey, precisely because they come unexpectedly and create a completely different kind of emotion and atmosphere.
So both sides are equally important to us. One defines the identity and energy of our sound, while the other can become a highlight of the night and connect in a more immediate way. That’s also the idea behind the EP: one side is cool, underground and true to our core sound, while the other is more accessible and can connect with a wider audience.
How does working as a duo differ from working on your own? How do you split the roles in the studio?
Honestly, working together feels very natural. Most of the time we’re completely on the same page, which has been a huge stroke of luck. And when we do disagree, we have a very open dialogue and always approach things in a constructive way.
In the studio, our roles are quite naturally defined. Denis is definitely the more technical one, while Elbio brings a longer and deeper background in clubbing. So we each bring something different to the process, based on our own backgrounds and experiences, and that combination works really well for us.
Your music is known for its detail and sonic quality. Can you walk us through your production process? Is there a particular technique, instrument or plug-in that defines the sound on ‘One Shot’?
Our production process always starts with the drums. We begin by building the right groove, because it’s the foundation of our sound and the element that gives the track its energy and direction.
Once we’ve found the right groove, we move on to the bassline. For “One Shot,” we used the Korg Polysix plugin to create the bass.
From there, we start developing the synths and vocals, gradually adding each element until we find the right balance in the mix. For us, everything revolves around the groove, sound selection and attention to detail.
You’ve played clubs including Hi Ibiza, Space Riccione and Amnesia Milano. What makes a club special for you as performers, and do you have a favourite?
We always say that the real magic in clubbing happens when there’s an incredible connection between the DJ and the dancefloor. It’s not enough for the DJ to kill it, the crowd has to kill it too. One simply doesn’t work without the other.
That’s what we look for in a club. It doesn’t really matter to us how big the venue is, how impressive the production is or how many people are there. What truly matters is the vibe, and you can’t force or manufacture that. It comes from the culture, the people and the community around a club. Either that connection is there, or it isn’t.
Of course, we have our favourite clubs, both as clubbers and as DJs, and they tend to be the places with the warmest and most passionate dancefloors.
Who or what has influenced your sound the most, inside or outside of tech house?
It’s difficult to point to one specific DJ or experience. Our sound is really the result of a journey we’ve had with electronic music and clubbing over many years.
We’ve evolved alongside the music, while the music and the industry were evolving as well. We’ve grown with it, experienced its different phases and watched club culture change over time.
So what we produce and play today is really the result of that journey — years of experiences, changes and emotions shared with what has always been our biggest passion: electronic music and clubbing.
It’s been great chatting with you. What’s next for Elbio & Denis and No Eyes On Us?
Thank you; the pleasure was ours. And thanks for giving us the space to share a little more about our vision and values as artists.
There’s a lot happening next. We work incredibly hard because we truly believe that’s the only way to build something meaningful. At the same time, we feel extremely lucky because we genuinely love what we do, so putting all this time and energy into the project is simply a pleasure for us.
We have some very exciting gigs coming up across Europe and South America, in clubs that until recently were only a dream for us. And of course, launching No Eyes on Us is a huge step. It gives us the opportunity to communicate our vision more clearly, both musically and through the values we stand for, and to build something that fully represents who we are.
So yes, a lot of work ahead — but we couldn’t be happier about it.
