Brooklyn-based tech-house champion Westend today drops his anthemic new single ‘The Ceiling’ out now via John Summit’s Experts Only. Featuring a standout vocal from British singer-songwriter Olivia Sebastianelli, the track marks Westend’s second release on the label following last year’s ‘Drum Death’ with HOSANNA.
A high-voltage return to the unruly spirit of early-2010s dance music, ‘The Ceiling’ finds Westend tapping into the raw, sweaty, anything-goes energy that first pulled him into club culture. Written in London but carrying the soul of New York, the track channels the feeling of a packed house party just before the room tips into chaos. Driven by a gritty bassline, pounding four-on-the-floor drums, and Olivia Sebastianelli’s hazy vocal, the track balances chaotic club energy with its undeniably uplifting topline. ‘The Ceiling’ captures what dance music can feel like when it is instinctive, physical, and a little unhinged.
“Lately, every track in tech house feels like the same record. I wanted that chaotic energy back, the kind of stuff that was coming out around 2012, fidget house records and when Project X was the biggest thing ever for a teenager. I wrote this in London last December and after the first session called my manager and said I had a special one. When I sent a batch of demos to John [Summit], he pointed out ‘The Ceiling’ and said the same thing. Every show I play it the crowd loses it even though it is their first time hearing it and that’s when you know you got a winner.” – Westend
The single arrives alongside a music video filmed in Brooklyn, bringing the track’s playful chaos to life. With furniture suspended from the ceiling as a literal nod to the title, the visual leans into a cheeky, DIY charm that feels increasingly rare in dance music’s hyper-polished era. In an AI-generated world, Westend takes a more hands-on approach, building something with true character in both sound and vision.

His catalog includes collaborations with John Summit, HUGEL, ACRAZE, and SIDEPIECE, alongside releases on Toolroom, Catch & Release, Solotoko, Dirtybird, and more.
