Panama, the synth-pop outfit from Australia, recently released Always, their second EP for nu-disco imprint Future Classic. The title tune just got a video, and it matches the melancholy yet majestic mood of the song itself. Frontman Jarrah McCleary at once warms your heart while pulling at its strings, with an undeniable sense of longing and loneliness. He plays the piano rapturously as he reflectively sings “Goodbye my deeper child / Time to take down your barricades and follow your own heart now / Always, I remember you / Slow down, I’m trying to tell the truth.” The video follows a young couple and their children, capturing both the nostalgic nature of adulthood and a child’s sense of enchantment.
