Hailing from Novara, Italy, Thomas Cerutti has been shaping his hip-hop-influenced sound with standout releases on Hector Couto’s Roush, LEON’s Futura, and Miguel Bastida’s Be One Records. Now, with his latest five-track EP, Louder—marking his label debut on Ilario Alicante’s Sound D’Elite—he delivers bouncing grooves and roaring basslines that hit hard. We caught up with him to dive deeper into his new EP, his production journey, and what the future holds for his evolving sound.

Let’s start at the beginning. What first inspired you to get into making music?
Ever since I was a kid, I used my creativity a lot; at first, I used to record over the cassette tapes of famous Italian singers that my parents usually listened to with an old tape recorder, of course ruining them completely. Then, growing up, I started teaching myself how to make my first beats with FL studio.

However, everything changed in August 2012 when, during my summer break with my friends, I entered for the first time at the world-famous club Cocoricó in Italy!

There was the great Luciano with Seth Troxler and Ralf! The iconic Pyramid, the energy released inside it and the happiness of the people in hearing the bass start, along with the perfect records of those times, captured me completely. I had already been following the world of electronic music for a long time, but I had never experienced it first-hand; it was from that time that I decided that I absolutely had to take this path and that I should be the one to make those people happy with my records!

And now, you’re making your Sound D’Elite debut; congratulations, can you tell us more about the release?
Exactly, I’m very happy with this new release. I have worked a lot on myself and my music in the past year; I think that with this release, I have managed to fully express myself at the moment! I am immensely grateful to Ilario Alicante, who has continuously supported my records over the last few years and then asked me to create an EP for Sound D’Elite!

‘Louder’ is a little heavier than your previous releases. How do you think your sounds have evolved over the years?

I really like to switch from one style to another and try to give a different inspiration to my productions, but I always keep my own imprint that I hope people recognize. I think this is the most difficult part of a producer’s journey: having your own style and being recognized for that. This is what I would like to do, but without moving too far from the underground style that has always characterized and fascinated me.

Aside from your own city, where else in the world do you love to play?

My biggest dream would be to play here in Italy at Cocoricó, where everything for me began. As I said before, I hope to be able to play soon in Ibiza, too, which I think is the dream of all of us DJs/producers! but I think Berlin and London are the best cities to perform and be yourself behind the decks, I’ve already played in Germany, and the atmosphere is really unique, from the clubs to the people to the sound system, really good vibes in there.

What advice would you give to young DJs who are just starting out?

you have to be consistent and patient and the results will not be lacking, always believe in what you do even if other people’s thoughts may be different. if you have new music, send it to other DJs. Communicating and comparing yourself with people in your scene will help you a lot!

What’s next for you?

I still have a lot of music to release before the end of the year. I’m really excited about that! In the meantime, I’m finishing up some new tracks for the new year, and I’ve got some cool collaborations lined up.
