SUBNR makes a superb statement on Dirty Retro Records with Planet Hot Mix, an adventurous 11 track album with featured guests including Rion S, Miranda Realino, Pato Banton, Barbara Tucker and Ade Omotayo. It is an effortlessly eclectic affair with high class production values.
Ibiza-based experimental electronic music producer Will Burns aka SUBNR mixes up a diverse selection of deeper house, downtempo and soul with disco influences. He has worked under many aliases before and has experience as a club owner as well as globe touring DJ, but here he makes his boldest impression yet.
Opener Earth feat. Jenna is a joyous cut with widescreen cosmic appeal and a gorgeous vocal over booming breakbeats. Get Down Tonight feat. Rion S explores a low slung and funky disco house groove, then Never Let Go featuring the legendary Barbara Tucker is timeless vocal house of the highest order. Lost In Love feat. Ade Omotayo is a turbo charged cut for the festival mainstage with its epic piano stabs and soaring vocals, and then comes the deeper, more intimate house of Spooky and big dubstep energy of Panic feat the iconic reggae vocalists Pato Banton dropping reggae styles.
Balearic Drop is just that with its Ibiza club feel, Angel Above Nova is a spine tingling house cut with heavenly vocals and melodic beauty, Dystonic slows down and gets deep downed funky and after the sun kissed, sax laced charm of Espresso Martini comes the serene vocal house of Forever feat. Miranda Realino.
