The global Afro House movement continues to open doors for international artists to collaborate with emerging African talent. Case in point: a new collaboration between DJ duo PAAX and vocalist Sakhe The Conqueror on SELA, out now on Scorpios Music.
This project stems from a partnership between Scorpios Music and the non-profit Bridges For Music, an organization focused on supporting young creatives in Cape Town’s underserved communities. All profits from the track will be donated to Bridges For Music.
PAAX, an Argentinian DJ duo known for their organic, groovy Deep Tech and House sound, were invited to join the project, bringing their multicultural influences and use of exotic instruments. They teamed up with Sakhe The Conqueror, a Cape Town-based Afro Soul artist, who delivered powerful isiXhosa vocals that brought a unique cultural blend to the release. Sakhe, a vocalist, producer, DJ, and songwriter, is a graduate of Bridges Academy and was discovered by BFM Records, a South African label committed to elevating local talent.
The result is SELA, a vibrant track that mixes PAAX’s international sound with Sakhe’s soulful vocals. The song features catchy guitar riffs from Cuban musician Emilio Campos Rojas, with lyrics that encourage listeners to embrace the healing power of music.
In addition, renowned producer Jean Claude Ades has created a club remix of the track, adding uplifting melodies that capture the mood of a sunset. This project not only showcases the synergy of global and African sounds but also supports Bridges For Music in their mission to empower the next generation of young creatives.
