Toronto-based techno stalwart HNTR, the new, underground moniker of the artist formerly known as Hunter Siegel, is gearing up to release his second EP titled Mind Games. His sophomore EP drops tomorrow, March 17 via his own label No Neon.

HNTR has been DJing for more than 20 years, performing at festivals including Hard Summer, Holy Ship, Splash House, Electric Zoo, and opening for the likes of Deadmau5. He’s also been hrowing sold-out shows in Toronto for five years via his event brand No Neon, where he specializes in booking rising artists like Rezz, Joyryde, and Matroda before they break.

Aptly titled, “Inception” is presented as a deeper melodic composition. Taking musical cues from the idea of dreamstate evaluations that precede one’s own thoughts, this psychological journey blends deep and dark bass with a beautiful melody and staccato plucks that drive the drop deep into the furthest depths of your psyche.

Inception was one of the first techno records I ever tried my hand at making, although it’s final form is quite a bit deeper than the original embodiment,” HNTR explains. “I had a buddy in the studio while I was originally working on it, and he said “the arp in this reminds me of inception” and the word kind of landed on beat.. I said “can you say that again into my phone?” and a vocal and concept for the song were created in that moment.

Turn it up & enjoy!
