Matt Star is a legend on the Offenbach scene, Repeat records owner and the man behind a lot of alias like Chimale, Polyfan Polyphenix and Cntrl. With the B-side of his upcoming release on Javier Carballo’s Underyourseat outlet receiving the remix treatment, we thought we would find out what his favourite remixes are…
2 Bit Crew – Baaam (PH1 Workdub) “I have almost all 2 Bit Crew records that they made and this remix ep is great, too. I like the mixture of spacy chords and old uk breaks”.
DMX Krew – You can’t hide your love (Aphex Twin Hidden Love mix) “None of my lists are complete with at least one track /remix of Aphex Twin. I chose a remix he did for DMX Crew as I love both artists and I have a big love for electro and broken beat stuff since my childhood. The first record I every bought was an Aphex twin record, too”.
Ben Sims – Retrovert (Claude Young Mix) “I bit more straight forward techno but a great remix by claude young that I’m a big fan of, too. It has the right amount of punchyness not too hard not too soft and the prefect shakin’ groove”.
Bryan Ferry – Don’t Stop The Dance (Grasshopper Dub) “A classic by Bryan Ferry in a more spaced out dub version”.
Alter Ego – Lycra (Wishmountain tight fitting lycra mix 2) “Another very old track (I think it was released around 96/97). Herbert had abig impact on me, too – love most of his old stuff, especially this remix he made for Alter Ego on Harthouse”.
